Brownie puddle tart

We don’t entertain at the flat very often (well, nothing that involves more than the offer of beer or a cup of tea and a digestive biscuit) so when we had company round for dinner the other week I pounced at the opportunity to make this brownie tart.

Gooey, fudgy and made oh so moist by the addition of cream cheese, once cool the tart is poked all over with the end of a wooden spoon and rich chocolate ganache is piped into the holes. So decadent and so delicious!

This recipe is from Rose Levy Beranbaum, the American ‘cake lady’, which is probably why it is so great. I have never, ever had one of her recipes fail on me. You can find the brownie recipe and lots of others on her website. (I recommend the lemon poppyseed pound cake!)
